After successfully completing the pilot year of our Flix in the Stix screenings, we are taking a summer break before we return in September, bigger and even better than before!

The community project run by our sister company, Blueprint: Film Foundation was introduced last year to provide a cinema experience for rural villages around Lincolnshire, transforming their local village hall into a cinema for an evening each month.

Flix in the Stix offers these often isolated communities the opportunity to enjoy an evening of entertainment, as well as providing a regular social activity helping to bring residents together and encourage more social events within the venues.

It is excellent value for money, I look forward to it each month!

Over the past year, Flix in the Stix has become popular within each village and has gained loyal following among residents who attend every screening.

Dan, who attends the Lea screenings, says the service has had a big impact on the community, “It is excellent value for money, I look forward to it each month!”

It was a popular evening at the Scothern screening of ‘I, Daniel Blake’.

Food and drink is provided at each screening, and at some villages choc ices are available! Proceeds help improve local services around the village, Tickets are just £3 and £1 of this cost is donated to the village hall committee for use within the hall to benefit the local community.

Blueprint: Film Foundation are looking to continue running this community based project, receiving lots of positive feedback from regular visitors who are looking forward to the touring cinema returning after the summer break.

A range of diverse and award winning titles are screened at each village.

“We were introduced to Flix in the Stix by a friend and we love it, we like the range of films that are shown.”

Flix in the Stix will be making a return in September, showing popular titles, old classics and comedies, which have proven to be a big hit with the audience in the past. We had a record breaking 88 people attend in Scothern for ‘Lady in the Van’!

For those who have not yet experienced Flix in the Stix, the last four screenings of the season are at:

  • Lea Village Hall – ‘Sully’, Thursday 11th May.
  • Fiskerton Village Hall – ‘Sing Street’, Thursday 18th May.
  • Digby War Memorial Hall – ‘Sully’.
  • Scothern Village Hall – ‘Sing Street’, Friday 26th May.

We are always looking for ways to expand Flix in the Stix, whether that is through new funding opportunities or working with local councils, committees and village halls to bring Flix in the Stix to as many villages as possible.

More information about screenings and the project is available on the Flix in the Stix website.
