Every Friday we pick out short films from across the web that have made a particular impression on us. From animations, to narrative and documentary shorts; it's always good to check out other creator's work. And now more than ever, short films offer the perfect distraction. They can make us laugh, cry, or teach us something we didn't know already. With another month coming to a close, we've compiled our picks for the best short films of March into one handy list! Take a scroll down and get inspired!
We fell in love with our first pick, Harrison Mendel's documentary short about the career of mountain biker Thomas Vanderham. It's a world we know very little about, brought to life with fantastic storytelling and stunning visuals. The lighting of the woodland bike runs alone blew us away. Definitely one to watch if you're into sports and very, very good looking visuals...
Now for something altogether more absurd, but no less amazing. If you're after something wacky, Public Cinema Club's surreal short, The Pet Files, is definitely up your street. Following an "Animal Physic Crime Whisperer" who taps into animals’ minds to solve crimes; we're not sure there's much else we can say on this one. It's hilarious, full of creativity, and absolutely unforgettable. You just have to see for yourselves!
Our final pick of March follows a woodturner as he creates beauty out of seemingly worthless cuts of wood. Directed with an obvious care and admiration of it's subject matter, we love the look of this one. It also does a great job at illuminating the beauty of something that could be viewed as mundane. Stebbins' direction is seriously impressive too.And just like that, we come to the end of February! If you’ve liked any of our picks or have any favourites of your own, let us know in the comments!
