If you follow us on Twitter or Facebook, you'll be no stranger to our weekly #AmazingFilms - a pick of short films (one a week) that have stood out to us as particularly effective in their message, doing unique things with the medium or just worth sharing for whatever reason. Whether you're in video production yourself or just in search of great new content to absorb - it's always beneficial to see what's being created! We're now 3 deep into 2019, so we've compiled all of February's picks here for you, just in case you missed any!
'ISLAND' - Max Mörtl and Robert Löbl
First up from Feb was the wonderful and creative story of exotic creatures clashing paths on their remote island habitat, in 'ISLAND'. An eccentric animated story with a great little soundtrack, this is one of those shorts that you can't help but smile at. Definitely one to brighten up your day!
'Good Medicine' - Jackson Tisi
Next up we have the beautifully shot documentary short, 'Good Medicine'. Drawing parallels between the healing traditions of youth & elders of the Shoshone and Arapaho tribes, the film is beautifully shot and tied together with insightful voiceover - which work brilliantly to heighten the similarities and differences between the two generations.
'SEEK' - Stefan José
Here's one that'll make you want to book the next flight halfway around the world in a heartbeat. Stefan José's gorgeous look at surfing through the eyes of Professional surfer Christian Baker, is shot to perfection with impressive sound design which culminates in an incredibly tactile look at life as a surfer. A perfect watch for those craving a taste of summer, or just want to learn a little more about the sport!
'A Video' - Ari Fararooy
Something a little more light-hearted and fun to round the month off in the form of Ari Fararooy's infectiously charming short 'A Video'. A hugely creative and expertly executed hyper-lapse journey through LA; this Vibrant, hypnotic, and wonderfully soundtracked little short will be sure to put a spring in your step!
